Online portfolio for an art curator, built as a WordPress theme written from scratch rather than with a page builder, so the layout could follow the work instead of a grid somebody else decided. The site is no longer live with my code.
the client
An art curator: exhibitions and artists to present online, with images as the main content.
the problem
A curatorial portfolio lives on images and on the space around them. Off-the-shelf WordPress themes impose their own grid, and every layout decision ends up looking like everyone else's who uses the same theme.
the approach
A WordPress theme written from scratch, no page builder: bespoke templates and CSS, so the layout follows the content rather than the other way round. The admin side stays standard WordPress, which the client already knew how to use.
what I built
- Custom WordPress theme, built without a page builder
- Bespoke templates for project pages and for the archive
- Content management left to the standard WordPress editor
the outcome
The project is no longer reachable with my code: site management moved to someone else.
This project is no longer live with my code — the client moved to different site management.
